Research direction: Conservation and utilization of architectural heritage in sustainable urban and rural environment; Contemporary architectural creation and place-making based on regional context inheritance

Jiang Nan, associate professor of Southeast University, national first-class registered architect, member of the Architectural Culture Academic Committee of the Architectural Society of China, academic member of the Industrial Heritage Committee of China Cultural Relics Academy, member of the Industrial Architectural Heritage Academic Committee of the Architectural Society of China, member of the young architects branch of the Jiangsu Institute of Architects, member of the The International Committee for the Conservation of the Industrial Heritage, and member of the expert database of National Cultural Heritage Administration. In recent years, he has paid attention to the sustainable and digital technology path for the conservation and utilization of industrial heritage, the activation and regeneration of modern architectural heritage and 20th century heritage, and the contemporary architectural creation in the field of historical environment. He insists on paying equal attention to academic research and architectural creation, and adheres to the core value of architecture.

In terms of academic research, he presided over two projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, one sub project of National Key R & D Program, and  one key laboratory project of the Ministry of Education, participated in many other projects that have important impact on national policies and industry development. He has published two monographs and more than 20 papers in Architecture Journal, The Architect, New Architecture and other journals, with a total of nearly 700 citations. He participated in one provincial engineering construction standard design, and applied for or authorized 6 patents as the first inventor.

In terms of practical creation, he has been committed to drawing construction wisdom from the traditional human settlement and built heritage, and applying it to the practical creation of architectural creation, exploring the inheritance and innovation of contemporary architecture and the quality creation of place-making in the context and clues of sustainable urban and rural environment and regional context inheritance, in order to realize the interaction between academic research and architectural creation. In recent years, he has presided over or participated in more than 30 project practices such as cultural and educational architecture, heritage activation and urban renewal. He has won more than 20 design awards and the works were published on some well-known architectural media. His design and teaching works had also been invited to important exhibitions for many times.
